Macy’s image requirements: retail-standard photography, at catalog scale
Acenda helps brands prepare and organize imagery for Macy’s department-store presentation. The listing that fails on images is usually not missing photography — it has the wrong kind in the first slot, the wrong crop, or no image at all for a colorway that needs its own.
Slots, not a pile of URLs
Image positions carry meaning: a primary on a clean background, alternates showing detail, on-model shots where the category expects them. Acenda maps your asset library to the channel’s slots so each position is filled deliberately, and a style missing a required position is flagged before submission rather than after review.
One library, channel-specific renditions
Your master assets stay in one place. Size, crop, background and format requirements are applied per channel as renditions, so supported transformations can reuse the original assets. A missing angle or inaccurate colorway photograph may still require new photography.
Colorway-level imagery
A navy dress should not show the black photograph. Acenda ties assets to the colorway inside the variant family, so the grid presents one product while each color shows its own photography.
Common image holds
A lifestyle image where a clean product shot is required · a primary that includes props, watermarks or text · resolution or aspect ratio below the standard · a colorway with no distinct imagery · alternates duplicated across colors so the gallery reads as repetition. Requirements vary by category and change over time; confirm the current standard for your categories.
Image preparation checklist
Before submission, confirm the current category guidance for primary and alternate positions, dimensions, file format, background and permitted content. Then check that each asset URL is accessible, the photograph matches the actual item, the intended colorway has the right assets, and the crop preserves relevant product detail.
Acenda helps organize assets against the channel’s required positions. Automated renditions can address supported formatting needs; they cannot supply a missing view or establish that an inaccurate photograph represents the product correctly.
Fix once, propagate
An asset corrected in the library re-flows to every channel that uses it, in each channel’s own rendition.
