A home goods maker turns big, bulky, and complicated into a growth engine.

A mid-sized home and furniture manufacturer sold through a handful of retail accounts and one marketplace. With Acenda, it expanded to Wayfair, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, and Overstock — with freight logistics and channel specs handled in one system.

01 · The customer

A manufacturer with great products and a narrow storefront.

The company had manufactured home furnishings for two decades — over 4,500 SKUs spanning furniture, decor, and storage. Its e-commerce presence was a single marketplace account managed through spreadsheets.

Retail buyers loved the line, but the brand captured only a fraction of online demand in its category. Wayfair, Lowe’s, and The Home Depot were the obvious next step — each with a notoriously demanding onboarding.

02 · The challenge

Oversized items, freight classes, and four different rulebooks.

Home goods are the hardest category to syndicate: dimensional data drives freight quoting, so a wrong measurement means a losing shipment. Every channel required distinct category trees, assembly documentation, compliance labeling, and imagery standards.

The existing spreadsheet process broke at one channel. Four more would have meant hiring a team just to keep listings alive.

03 · The work

Catalog rebuilt around the physics of the product.

Acenda rebuilt the catalog with dimensional and freight data as first-class fields — validated before submission so listings clear each channel’s checks the first time. Category mappings, compliance docs, and imagery were mapped per channel.

Orders route by fulfillment type: parcel items to the 3PL, freight items to the LTL workflow, with tracking flowing back to every channel automatically. Inventory syncs from the warehouse system Acenda connected — nothing was replaced.

04 · The results

Six channels, one catalog, and a team that stayed the same size.

Within a year the brand was live on six marketplaces, and e-commerce revenue doubled. Freight rejections — the killer in this category — dropped to near zero because the data is validated before it ships.

The operations team runs everything from one dashboard: listings, orders, inventory, and channel feedback. Growth now comes from adding channels, not adding process.

Big and bulky doesn’t have to mean slow and manual.
