Target Plus listing requirements: a pre-submission checklist

Quick answer

Target Plus listing requirements start with valid barcodes: a 12-digit UPC starting with 0, 1, 6, 7, 8, or 9, or a 13-digit EAN, each passing its checksum. Size charts must be in a grid format, hazmat items need UL WERCSmart registration, and dietary supplements need Label Insight registration. What barcodes does Target Plus accept?

Target Plus listing requirements on barcodes are specific. A UPC must be 12 digits, pass the checksum, and start with 0, 1, 6, 7, 8, or 9. An EAN must be 13 digits and pass the checksum. 11-digit and 14-digit codes are not accepted.

Every sellable item needs a code that meets those rules before you submit it.

What else must be ready before you submit items?

Barcodes are only the first gate.

  • Size charts. Size charts must be provided in a grid format.
  • Hazardous materials. Hazmat items require UL WERCSmart registration, at the seller's cost.
  • Dietary supplements. Supplements require Label Insight registration.
  • SKU rules. There is no minimum or maximum SKU count. Target Plus allows one seller per SKU.

Taxonomy, required attributes, variations, and rejection causes belong on Target Plus requirements. This page does not repeat them.

What happens after items are submitted?

Item-setup errors must be fixed within one business day. Marketplace portal messages must be answered within two business days.

Target can remove items that do not sell. Requirements can change. Confirm current terms during onboarding.

How Acenda helps

Acenda maps the catalog to Target's taxonomy and category attributes and validates it before submission. Errors come back as specific fixes, tied to the item and the field.

That validation does not approve the brand. Target still decides which sellers and which items stay on Target.com.
