Launching on Macy’s Marketplace

A Macy’s launch depends on catalog readiness and connected operations. Acenda is a pioneer partner of Macy’s Marketplace — there since day one — and brings that experience to both. The path below helps your team identify missing data, confirm responsibilities and test the order flow before launch.

Confirm seller approval and channel fit first

Use Macy’s official seller inquiry route to confirm the application process and current requirements. Agree on the proposed assortment and identify who owns the retailer relationship. Keep seller approval, product review and integration readiness as separate milestones.

Acenda can help prepare the operational plan while your team addresses those milestones. Existing wholesale or other retailer relationships should not be treated as automatic Marketplace approval.

Six steps from readiness to operation

01

Catalog readiness

Audit identifiers, category fit, variant structure, attribute coverage and imagery against Macy’s requirements. Output is a gap list by style, not a pass/fail. Bring a representative style per category — sizes, colors, images, full attribute detail — and the gaps for the rest of the assortment are usually predictable from it.

02

Mapping

Import Macy’s live category and attribute schema. Map your taxonomy to Macy’s categories and your values to the retailer’s accepted lists — colors and sizes first, since they gate the variant grid. Mapped once, reused for every future style.

03

Enrichment

Work the gap list: required attributes with no answer, values outside accepted lists, missing image slots, colorways without their own photography. AI-assisted suggestions propose values from your own content for merchandiser approval, which is what makes a long tail finishable.

04

Validation and submission

Validate every style pre-submission. Submit. Rejections return per item and per field and go straight back onto the worklist.

05

Test orders and operational readiness

Confirm the order path end to end: order in, route to the right location, ship, tracking back, cancellation and return paths exercised. Confirm inventory scope — including which locations feed the channel’s offers — before volume arrives.

06

Go-live and operating cadence

Assortment live, inventory and pricing continuous, orders flowing, returns and payouts reconciling. Ongoing work is schema drift, seasonal assortment adds, and keeping the attribute worklist near zero.

This is a planning checklist, not an official Macy’s eligibility checklist. Share detailed account information through the agreed onboarding process.

Agree on launch evidence

Before enabling the planned assortment, check representative products in the seller workflow, validate the mapped variants, confirm offer stock and prices, and exercise the available order, shipment, cancellation and return test paths. Use a test environment where available; agree any live test transactions through the account’s normal process.

Name an owner for unresolved issues and agree what will be monitored after launch. With Acenda, the preparation work becomes the foundation for seasonal assortment updates and ongoing channel operations.

What Macy’s decides, and what you control

Macy’s decides seller approval and assortment. You control whether your product data meets the standard when the reviewer looks at it. That second part is the part Acenda does.
