Introductions and nominations for Macy's and Bloomingdale's Marketplace

Quick answer

Acenda is an approved, pioneer partner of both Macy's Marketplace and Bloomingdale's Marketplace and has been part of both since day one. With that comes the honor and responsibility of assisting with introductions and nominations for qualified brands. An introduction or nomination is not approval — each retailer makes its own final decision. Acenda can introduce or nominate qualified leads to almost any third-party marketplace, and Macy's and Bloomingdale's are two examples. An introduction or nomination is not approval.

What does an Acenda introduction or nomination involve?

We look at product fit with each retailer's assortment and at operational readiness, then introduce or nominate qualified brands. The retailer reviews the brand like any other candidate.

An introduction or nomination is a way in to that review. It does not change the retailer's criteria, and it does not move a brand ahead of the merchant team's own process.

What makes a strong candidate?

A strong candidate is a qualified brand that can actually operate the channel, not only a brand that wants the logo.

  • Assortment fit. Products that fill a gap in the retailer's own assortment, rather than repeating items the retailer already sells.
  • A U.S. operation. A U.S. business, a U.S. warehouse, and GS1-certified UPCs on every item.
  • Shipping and returns. The ability to ship within 48 business hours and process returns within 2 business days.
  • Catalog readiness. A catalog that can meet standard color and size values, with images linked directly to the file.

The account detail is on Macy's Marketplace requirements. Bloomingdale's uses the same partner-site requirements. The application steps for Bloomingdale's are on how to apply.

One retailer or both?

Macy's and Bloomingdale's have separate merchant teams and separate assortment strategies. We consider fit for each retailer separately.

Acceptance on one does not carry over to the other. A brand can be a fit for one storefront and not the other, and each retailer makes its own final decision. See Macy's vs Bloomingdale's Marketplace.

What an introduction is not

An introduction or nomination is not approval. It is not a guarantee. It does not come with special terms. It does not produce a faster review. Each retailer makes its own final decision, and acceptance is never guaranteed.

The questionnaire route

The interest questionnaire on the Macy's Marketplace partner site is the standard route for both Macy's and Bloomingdale's. An Acenda introduction or nomination leads to the same retailer review. Both routes end with the merchant team, not with Acenda.

Other marketplaces

Acenda can introduce or nominate qualified leads to almost any third-party marketplace. Macy's Marketplace and Bloomingdale's Marketplace are two examples. Target Plus, Nordstrom Marketplace, Ulta Beauty Marketplace, and Kohl's are others. The wider process is on how marketplace nomination works.

Frequently asked questions

Does an Acenda nomination guarantee approval on Macy's or Bloomingdale's?

No. An introduction or nomination is not approval. Each retailer makes its own final decision, and acceptance is never guaranteed.

Can Acenda introduce my brand to both Macy's and Bloomingdale's?

Acenda can introduce or nominate qualified brands to each retailer where there is a fit. Macy's and Bloomingdale's review brands separately, and acceptance on one does not carry over to the other.

Do I still need to fill out the questionnaire?

The interest questionnaire on the Macy's Marketplace partner site is the standard route. An Acenda introduction or nomination leads to the same retailer review, and we'll tell you which steps apply to your brand.
