Macy's Marketplace vs Bloomingdale's Marketplace

Quick answer

Macy's Marketplace and Bloomingdale's Marketplace are both part of the Macy's, Inc. marketplace program, run on Mirakl, and share one partner site and the same core seller requirements. They have separate merchant teams and assortment strategies, so acceptance on one does not auto-approve the other. Macy's launched its marketplace in September 2022, and Bloomingdale's followed in 2023.

What do Macy's and Bloomingdale's Marketplace share?

Both storefronts sit inside the Macy's, Inc. marketplace program. Macy's, Inc. announced in November 2021 that selected third-party merchants would sell on macys.com and bloomingdales.com. The marketplaces run on Mirakl and share the Macy's Marketplace partner site.

The core seller rules are the same: a U.S. business, a U.S. warehouse, GS1-certified UPCs, shipping within 48 business hours, and returns processed within 2 business days. Sellers are paid weekly through a J.P. Morgan account that must be in place before go-live. The comparison below is the short version.

What is different?

The merchant teams and the assortments are separate. When Macy's launched in September 2022, it named more than 20 categories, including home, beauty and wellness, electronics, pets, and toys. Bloomingdale's has described its marketplace around luxury brands that want more control, products that extend the assortment, and emerging brands. See Macy's categories and what fits Bloomingdale's.

Shoppers return Macy's Marketplace items by UPS or in a Macy's store. On Bloomingdale's, most third-party items can be returned within 30 days of receipt through the online tool, and associates at the bHelpful desk can help in store. Customers can earn and use Star Rewards points on Macy's Marketplace purchases, with some exclusions. Bloomingdale's has not stated an equivalent for marketplace purchases.

Macy's publishes a 5–6 day minimum for uploaded items to go live after the initial onboarding phase. Bloomingdale's does not publish its own figure. Bloomingdale's also has its own image requirements, so the same product still needs a Bloomingdale's-specific image set.

Can I sell on both?

You can pursue both, and each retailer reviews the brand on its own. Acceptance on Macy's does not auto-approve Bloomingdale's, and the reverse is also true.

Work to get operational on one usually helps the other. It does not replace a second merchant review. Storefronts, seller accounts, and catalog setup stay separate.

Running both with Acenda

Acenda is an approved, pioneer partner of both Macy's Marketplace and Bloomingdale's Marketplace and has been part of both since day one. With that comes the honor and responsibility of assisting with introductions and nominations for qualified brands. An introduction or nomination is not approval — each retailer makes its own final decision.

After each retailer approves the brand, Acenda runs both from one product record, with a channel-ready version for each, including Bloomingdale's-specific images. Orders, tracking, cancellations, returns, and weekly payouts stay in that same connection.
