Sell on Nordstrom Marketplace: curated, not open

Nordstrom’s online marketplace launched in April 2024 on Mirakl. It is not an open marketplace and not an “everything store.” Nordstrom applies a quality and relevance bar similar to how it thinks about wholesale. Fit, positioning, pricing, and operational readiness matter as much as having inventory.

Anyone can apply. Nordstrom decides who gets in. Most brands apply through Mirakl Connect or by contacting Nordstrom’s marketplace team, and Nordstrom also recruits.

There is a third route. Acenda can introduce or nominate qualified leads to almost any third-party marketplace. Nordstrom Marketplace included. An introduction or nomination is not approval. Nordstrom makes the final decision. See how to get introduced or nominated. Applying, getting recruited, and a nomination are different doors into the same review. None of them bypasses Nordstrom’s decision.

What Nordstrom asks of marketplace brands

Nordstrom confirms eligibility with each brand during onboarding, so treat the basics below as typical rather than a published checklist. Requirements can change; confirm current terms with Nordstrom. The full checklist is on Nordstrom Marketplace requirements.

  • U.S. basics. A U.S.-registered business with an EIN or tax ID and a W-9, a U.S. bank account, and a U.S. ship-from and returns address. No PO boxes.
  • Carriers. Commonly UPS, USPS, FedEx, and DHL eCommerce. Tracking is required on every shipment.
  • Barcodes. A valid, scannable barcode on every item: UPC, GTIN, or EAN.
  • Product type and attributes. The correct Nordstrom product type or category, with required attributes such as size, color, material, care, and fit. Some values must come from Nordstrom’s approved lists.
  • Variants. Variants grouped so each one differs on the variation attributes.
  • Images. High-quality images that meet Nordstrom’s size and format rules, supplied as direct image files rather than links to a webpage.
  • Compliance. Some categories need compliance documentation, for example hazmat.
  • Offers once live. Stock and price are sent as offers. An approved listing with zero stock is not buyable. You set your own prices, and Nordstrom promotions and coupons generally do not apply to marketplace items unless Nordstrom says otherwise.

The path to live

01

Apply or get recruited

Apply through Mirakl Connect or Nordstrom’s marketplace team, get recruited by Nordstrom, or come in through a nomination. Nordstrom reviews fit, positioning, pricing, and readiness.

02

Onboarding and readiness

Confirm eligibility basics and commercial terms directly with Nordstrom, and set up the seller account.

03

Catalog prep

Prepare product types, attributes, variants, barcodes, and images.

04

Review and live

Nordstrom reviews listings. Items go live when they are approved and in stock.

There is no published standard timeline. It depends on catalog readiness and Nordstrom’s review.

What usually slows brands down

  • Selection stage. The brand or assortment is not a fit for Nordstrom’s curated shelf.
  • Listing stage. Barcodes, required attributes, approved values, variant grouping, images, or zero stock.

Getting those details right the first time shortens review.

Fulfillment, returns, and fees

You ship direct to the customer and upload tracking with an approved carrier. For each order Nordstrom shares the customer’s name and shipping address. Nordstrom handles customer service for marketplace purchases.

Customers return under the Nordstrom Marketplace Return Policy. Each seller has its own return window, measured from the ship date. Marketplace items are not eligible for exchanges. Nordstrom refunds customers for in-store returns.

Nordstrom does not publish a public marketplace rate card. Nordstrom Marketplace fees align with industry-standard marketplace commission and referral structures, with exact commercial terms set by Nordstrom and confirmed during onboarding. Acenda's platform fee is separate (flat rate per channel, never a percentage of sales). See Nordstrom Marketplace fees.

What Acenda handles for Nordstrom

Acenda is live for Nordstrom listings, stock, price, orders, and payouts. After Nordstrom approves your brand, Acenda is the layer between your catalog and the channel.

Listings

Maps your catalog to Nordstrom product types, required attributes, approved value lists, variant grouping, barcodes, and images, and sends listings to Nordstrom. Listing errors come back as specific fixes your team can act on.

Inventory and price

Syncs stock and prices through the day, with a full refresh and daily match check.

Orders

Orders, cancellations, and returns flow in. Shipments and tracking go back.

Payouts

Pulls Nordstrom payment and transaction records daily and matches them to orders, so finance can see what was paid and how commissions and fees line up against what sold, without reconciling statements by hand.

One catalog

Runs Nordstrom from the same Acenda catalog you use for your other department-store marketplaces: one product record, channel-ready versions.
