EDI and drop-ship network integrations
Quick answer
Acenda supports X12 EDI (version 4010) and connects EDI and drop-ship networks such as SPS Commerce, DSCO, and CommerceHub. Purchase orders, acknowledgments, ship notices, inventory, and invoices move between Acenda and your trading partners, and EDI setup is done together with your Acenda team.

What EDI does Acenda support?
Acenda supports X12 EDI (version 4010) over direct SFTP or AS2, or through EDI networks such as SPS Commerce and Orderful. EDI setup is done together with your Acenda team.
The standard in use is X12 version 4010. A 997 Functional Acknowledgment confirms that a file arrived and could be read. It is not the business answer to a purchase order.
Which documents go which way?
When you are the buyer, Acenda sends the 850 Purchase Order. The partner returns the 855 PO Acknowledgment, the 856 Advance Ship Notice, the 846 Inventory Advice, and the 810 Invoice.
When you are the vendor, the retailer sends the 850 Purchase Order. Acenda returns the 855 PO Acknowledgment, the 856 Advance Ship Notice, and the 810 Invoice.
A 997 Functional Acknowledgment can travel with these files to confirm receipt.
What happens in Acenda when a document arrives?
An 856 creates or updates a Ship Advice and carries tracking to the sales channel.
An 846 updates On Hand stock for the warehouse tied to that connection.
An 855 is recorded against the order.
Which drop-ship networks does Acenda connect to?
Acenda is fully integrated with DSCO and CommerceHub, so retailers whose drop-ship programs run on either network can be connected as fully supported channels.
CommerceHub acquired ChannelAdvisor in November 2022 and changed its company name to Rithum in December 2023. ChannelAdvisor, CommerceHub, and DSCO are now part of Rithum.
CommerceHub and DSCO each keep their own page. ChannelAdvisor is included on the Rithum page.
How do I get started with EDI?
EDI setup is not self-serve. Have ready the partner details and transport, the documents you need, test files if you have them, and an EDI or IT contact.
Our team does the setup with you. When an 856 Advance Ship Notice arrives, Acenda creates or updates a Ship Advice and carries tracking to the sales channel. An 846 Inventory Advice updates On Hand stock for the warehouse tied to that connection. An 855 PO Acknowledgment is recorded against the order. A 997 only confirms that a file arrived and could be read. It does not accept the purchase order. Direct SFTP and direct AS2 are available when you are not using SPS Commerce or Orderful. Have the trading partner's name, the transport you will use, and a contact who can exchange test files. Acenda's team maps the documents with you. Nothing goes to a retailer until that mapping is agreed. Purchase orders, ship notices, inventory advice, and invoices are the documents most retail programs exchange.
Retailer drop-ship work on DSCO and CommerceHub is fully supported. Selling on a marketplace is a separate channel. See Explore all channels, including Amazon, Walmart, and Kohl's.
EDI and drop-ship FAQ
Do I need an EDI provider to work with Acenda?
Not necessarily. Acenda supports direct SFTP and AS2 as well as networks such as SPS Commerce and Orderful.
What is the difference between a 997 and an 855?
A 997 confirms a file arrived and could be read. An 855 is the business answer to a purchase order.
Are DSCO and CommerceHub retailers fully supported?
Acenda is fully integrated with DSCO and CommerceHub, so retailers whose drop-ship programs run on either network can be connected as fully supported channels.
Does an EDI connection affect retailer approval?
Connecting a system to Acenda doesn't affect whether a marketplace accepts your brand. Each retailer makes its own decision.
